Back to PP

I made it back to Phnom Penh today, just in time to learn that my ~~gambromah~~ hedgehog died yesterday and had been taken to a pagoda, blessed, and cremated. Plus, the momma cat and her two babies I adopted have been taking back to the original owner. I also discovered I'm teaching just two classes again (read: max. monthly salary=$550), and one of those classes is at a time I SPECIFICALLY ASKED NOT TO TEACH.

Time to find a new job.

I'm serious.

A Note About the Blog

I've worked as a cartoonist, so I'm going to try to incorporate a lot of that.

I also like taking pictures, so I'll try to put in some of my best shots.

I'm insanely multifaceted, so I might discuss my life, draw some pictures, tell a story that happened to me on Tuesday, recommend a good restaurant, and make an observation on global politics all in the same breath.

I intend to give a rather honest assessment of what it's like to be a lone white female in Phnom Penh. No lies, no whitewashing, no excuses. I see this as being important for other people who might be thinking about living here themselves.

That said, it's important to remember that everyone has a different experience, and I'm just one woman.

*A Message to Jerks

Some people are jerks.

They like to write in and tell me what a horrible person I am, largely because I am very honest about my circumstances.

If you're one of those people, go away NOW. I've tried for years to please your ilk, and guess what? NO ONE CAN!

So, I'm not going to bother.

This blog will contain true-to-life adventures as experienced by me. If I get robbed and shot, I'm going to write that I got robbed and shot. Other people might find this information valuable, even if you think it has no place on a blog.

And I work for THOSE people, not for you.
